AI Summary

This bill amends the Illinois Public Aid Code to modify the reimbursement rates for nursing facilities, specifically focusing on the support component of nursing facility rates. Beginning January 1, 2026, the bill requires that reimbursement rates for skilled or intermediate care facilities and facilities licensed under the Specialized Mental Health Rehabilitation Act will be increased based on the percent change in the Consumer Price Index-U (CPI-U) from September 2016 to September 2025. The Consumer Price Index-U is a measure published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics that tracks the average change in prices of goods and services purchased by urban consumers. This change is subject to federal approval and aims to adjust nursing facility reimbursement rates to account for inflation and rising costs. The bill ensures that nursing facilities will receive a rate adjustment that reflects changes in the cost of providing care over this nine-year period, helping to maintain the financial sustainability of these critical healthcare providers.
