This bill modifies the workers' compensation law to allow employers, including volunteer fire departments and municipalities, to contract for additional supplemental insurance coverage specifically for volunteer firefighters injured in the line of duty. The bill enables these entities to purchase extra insurance that provides benefits above the standard statutory amounts, including temporary total disability benefits. Importantly, the bill permits county and municipal governing bodies to use unearmarked tax proceeds to help pay for this supplemental insurance.
