This bill amends the Child Labor Law of 2024 to modify supervision requirements for minors working in park and recreation settings. Specifically, the bill creates two exceptions to the existing rule that requires all minors to be supervised by an adult 21 years of age or older on-site at all times. First, minors working for park districts, municipal parks and recreation departments, or township parks and recreation departments can now be supervised by an 18-year-old employee, provided no alcohol or tobacco is being sold on the premises. Second, minors working as youth sports activity officials can be supervised by a 21-year-old employee who is on call, rather than physically present on-site. This change appears designed to provide more flexibility for parks and recreation departments in staffing and supervising young workers, potentially making it easier for teens to find employment in these settings while maintaining a reasonable level of adult oversight. The bill takes effect immediately upon passage.
