This resolution mourns the passing of A. Dale Huston, a prominent Springfield banker and community leader who died on January 20, 2025. Born in Gibson City in 1940, Huston graduated from the University of Illinois with an agronomy degree and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era, including time in the ROTC and Army Reserve. Throughout his 50-year banking career, he worked for multiple financial institutions, retiring as an executive vice president in 2000 and continuing to work in banking until 2018. Huston was deeply involved in community service, serving on numerous boards including the Springfield Chamber of Commerce, Mental Health Centers of Central Illinois, and various local organizations. He was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and enjoyed activities like bird hunting, gardening, and spending time with his family. The resolution honors his life, professional achievements, and community contributions, extends condolences to his surviving family members (including his wife Judy, children Chad and Dana, and three grandchildren), and resolves to present a copy of the memorial to his family as an expression of sympathy.
