For other probation officer positions involved in basic services, the bill establishes a gradual transition plan where, beginning on July 1, 2026, 20% of the statewide probation officer positions as of July 1, 2023, will be transferred to the 100% reimbursement category. Each subsequent July 1st, another 20% of the original 2023 population will be similarly transferred until all positions are covered at the 100% reimbursement level. This approach aims to provide more comprehensive financial support for counties maintaining probation services, with a particular focus on expanding coverage for specialized programs like pretrial services and specialty courts.
