This bill amends the Firearm Concealed Carry Act by removing the existing prohibition that prevents licensed concealed carry permit holders from carrying firearms in various areas on college and university campuses, including buildings, classrooms, laboratories, medical clinics, hospitals, artistic and athletic venues, entertainment venues, and university-related organization properties. By deleting this specific provision (marked as section 15 in the original law), the bill effectively allows concealed carry permit holders to bring firearms into these previously restricted campus locations. The change means that licensed individuals would now be able to carry concealed firearms on public and private college and university properties, including parking areas, sidewalks, and common areas. The bill does, however, still maintain other existing restrictions on firearm carry in sensitive locations such as schools, hospitals, government buildings, and other public spaces. This modification represents a significant expansion of where concealed carry permit holders can legally bring firearms within educational institutions.
