This concurrent resolution commends and congratulates Lewis Scott Gray, Jr. for being named the 2024 Male Athlete of the Year for the State Games of Mississippi. The resolution highlights Gray's extensive 44-year involvement in volleyball, noting his participation and leadership despite undergoing three knee surgeries, and recognizing his contributions to the State Games over more than 30 years. At 60 years old, Gray has won multiple medals in volleyball competitions, including gold, silver, and bronze, and continues to compete at a high level. The resolution also acknowledges his broader athletic achievements, including 20 years of soccer coaching and raising an athletic family. The State Games, which attracted over 5,000 athletes in 2024, chose Gray for his embodiment of sportsmanship, participation, and positive attitude. The Mississippi Legislature formally recognizes Gray's commitment to excellence and his contributions to athletics in the state, wishing him continued success. As is customary, the resolution will be provided to Gray and the Capitol Press Corps.
