This bill reverts changes made to the Salaries Act and the General Assembly Compensation Act that were previously established by Public Act 102-1115. Specifically, it eliminates the salary increases for executive branch officials and state legislators that were set to take effect for terms beginning on or after January 9, 2023. The bill removes specific salary amounts for the Governor ($205,700), Lieutenant Governor ($160,900), Secretary of State ($183,300), Comptroller ($160,900), Treasurer ($160,900), and Attorney General ($183,300), effectively returning these positions to have their salaries determined by the Compensation Review Board as they were before the previous act. Similarly, for the General Assembly, the bill eliminates the proposed increase of legislative salaries to $85,000 and reverts to the previous annual salary of $28,000, with the option to be adjusted by the Compensation Review Board. The bill also removes provisions related to additional officers and leadership positions in the General Assembly that were added in the previous legislation. These changes essentially roll back the pay raises that were previously approved, returning compensation to its prior structure.
