Provides that, by July 1, 2027 and by July 1 each year thereafter, the State Board of Education shall compile and publish a report on its website listing the total number of organizations that submitted opportunities for high school students the previous year, and the report shall be disaggregated by the career areas under which each opportunity fell.

AI Summary

This bill requires the State Board of Education (ISBE) to create a publicly accessible online form by July 1, 2026, through which organizations can submit opportunities for high school students to engage in career and technical education (CTE) experiences like externships, internships, and volunteer work. The ISBE will review and approve these opportunities, then publish an approved list on its website and share it annually with all school districts. Additionally, starting July 1, 2027, the ISBE must compile and publish an annual report on its website detailing the total number of organizations that submitted opportunities in the previous year, with the report broken down by specific career areas. The goal of this legislation is to expand high school students' exposure to practical, career-oriented experiences across different professional fields, helping them explore potential career pathways and gain valuable real-world skills before entering the workforce or pursuing higher education.
