Bill Summary

Amends the Liquor Control Act of 1934. Provides that a distributor of wine or spirits shall deliver to any retailer within any geographic area in which that distributor has been granted by a wholesaler the right to sell its trademark, brand, or name at least once every 2 weeks if the retailer agrees to purchase at least $200 of wine or spirits from the distributor every 2 weeks. Removes language setting forth a $50 minimum purchase of wine or spirits for a retailer located in a county with a population of less than 3,000,000 that is not adjacent to a county with a population of at least 3,000,000 inhabitants. Makes a conforming change.

AI Summary

This bill amends the Liquor Control Act of 1934 to modify delivery requirements for wine and spirits distributors. Specifically, the bill removes previous language that distinguished delivery requirements based on county population size and instead establishes a uniform standard: distributors must deliver to any retailer within their designated geographic area (where they have been granted rights to sell their brand) at least once every two weeks, provided the retailer agrees to purchase at least $200 of wine or spirits during that period. The bill eliminates the previous tiered system that had different minimum purchase amounts for retailers in counties with populations above or below 3,000,000 inhabitants. By standardizing the delivery and purchase requirements, the bill simplifies the regulatory framework for liquor distribution and potentially makes it easier for retailers in smaller counties to obtain wine and spirits from distributors.
