This bill modifies the Salaries Act and the General Assembly Compensation Act to revert salary provisions that were previously established by Public Act 102-1115. Specifically, the bill restores salary levels for state executive officers and General Assembly members to their pre-January 2023 amounts. For executive officers like the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, Comptroller, Treasurer, and Attorney General, the bill removes the specific salary amounts set in 2023 and returns to having salaries determined by the Compensation Review Board. For General Assembly members, the bill eliminates the increased annual salary of $85,000 that was set to begin with the 103rd General Assembly, reverting instead to the previous $28,000 annual salary. The bill also removes provisions about additional compensation for majority party officers in situations where the party holds significant numbers of seats in the House or Senate. These changes are specified to apply to terms beginning before January 9, 2023, and on and after January 11, 2027, effectively undoing the salary increases that were previously enacted.
