This bill, the Veterans Readiness and Employment Improvement Act of 2025, makes several changes to how the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) supports veterans. It removes a requirement that on-campus educational and vocational counseling for veterans must be provided by specific VA employees, allowing for more flexibility in who can offer this guidance. The bill also grants the Secretary of Veterans Affairs the authority to approve flight training courses, even those not leading to a college degree, as part of vocational rehabilitation programs for veterans with service-connected disabilities, provided these programs are approved on or after August 1, 2026. To improve access to information about these programs, the VA will establish a dedicated phone number within its Education Call Center and ensure each regional office's website lists contact information for services related to these programs. Furthermore, the bill mandates that the VA must approve or deny requests for extensions of these programs within 30 days and requires the Secretary to submit an annual report for five years detailing the number of extension requests, approvals, and denials. Finally, it extends certain limits on pension payments until July 31, 2033.
