This resolution honors "Broadway" Joe Booker, a South Carolina native who became a prominent broadcaster and community leader in Arkansas. He received multiple prestigious broadcasting awards in the 1990s, including the National Association of Broadcasters Marconi Radio award for Medium Market Station of the Year. Booker has been deeply involved in community service, organizing events like Blues on the River and Juneteenth that raised over $140,000 for The Watershed nonprofit, and supporting various humanitarian causes such as youth sports teams, crisis intervention, and mentorship programs for African American men and boys. Currently working as a program director for Cumulus Media and KIPR Power 92.3 Jams, he hosts talk and music video shows and remains committed to providing comprehensive information, education, and entertainment to his community. The resolution specifically recognizes Booker's significant contributions to the community and the State of Arkansas, and directs that a copy of the resolution be provided to him by the Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives.
