This bill directs the New York State Commissioner of Health and the President of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) to conduct a comprehensive study on how electric vehicles might impact personal medical devices. The study must specifically analyze two key areas: first, the potential effects of electrical power sources in vehicles on medical devices like cardiac implantable electronic devices, and second, the potential for electromagnetic interference (EMI) with medical devices such as pacemakers and defibrillators. Within one year of the bill's enactment, the Commissioner and NYSERDA President are required to submit a detailed report of their findings and recommendations to various state government leaders, including the Governor, Senate and Assembly leaders, and committee chairs. The report must also be publicly posted on both the Department of Health and NYSERDA websites.
