This resolution commends local businesses that supported the O'Fallon Fraternal Order of the Police (FOP) Lodge 198 in donating a custom-designed, 14-passenger bus to the Parent Teacher Organization for Exceptional Children (PTOEC), a nonprofit organization founded by parents, teachers, and community members to support individuals with intellectual disabilities in socializing and participating in sports. The PTOEC had been struggling with an old, non-wheelchair accessible vehicle when the FOP Lodge 198 learned of their transportation needs and mobilized local businesses to help. The businesses collectively donated $25,000, the largest donation in the lodge's history, and on September 15, 2023, surprised the PTOEC athletes by presenting them with the new bus. The resolution specifically recognizes the contributions of South Beach Motors, Moreland Auto Body, Tactical Towing & Recovery Inc., Mission Accomplished Tire and Auto, Southern Bus & Mobility, United Ink, and Romano's License Service, and calls for official copies of the resolution to be delivered to these organizations as a symbol of appreciation for their support in helping the PTOEC improve transportation for athletes participating in Special Olympics events.
