AI Summary
This bill, effective January 1, 2028, mandates that elections for municipal officials, including those in cities, school districts, and community colleges, will now occur in even-numbered years, with primary elections held in August and general elections in November. It also requires that the terms of office for these municipal elected officials be either two or four years, with specific provisions to adjust existing terms to align with this new schedule, ensuring a smoother transition. The bill defines "municipality" broadly to include various local government entities like cities, school districts, community colleges, drainage districts, and water districts, but excludes special districts where elections are held at a meeting. Additionally, it makes numerous technical amendments to existing laws to reflect these changes in election timing and term lengths.
