AI Summary
This bill amends the Criminal Code of 2012 to expand the definitions of "terrorist act" and "catastrophe" to specifically include acts targeting reproductive health care facilities. The bill adds a new provision to the definition of "terrorist act" that encompasses any act intended to cause and which does cause substantial damage to or destruction of a building or facility providing reproductive health care. Similarly, the bill modifies the definition of "vital public facility" in the catastrophe offense section to include entities providing reproductive health care, as defined in the Reproductive Health Act. This means that actions deliberately causing significant damage to reproductive health care facilities could now be prosecuted under terrorism and catastrophe statutes, potentially carrying more severe legal consequences. The bill is effective immediately and aims to provide additional legal protection for reproductive health care facilities by categorizing attacks against them as serious criminal offenses with heightened penalties.
