This bill establishes the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Task Force within the State Board of Education to comprehensively review and improve career and technical education programming across Illinois. The Task Force, consisting of 13 members representing various educational, labor, and administrative stakeholders, will examine the current capacity of CTE programs in high schools, community colleges, and technical schools, assess the additional capacity needed to meet student demands, evaluate the relevance of current courses to the economy and employers, review funding structures, and investigate transportation needs for students in vocational programs. Members will serve without compensation and will convene by December 1, 2025, with the State Board of Education providing administrative support. The Task Force is required to prepare and deliver a report of its findings to the State Board of Education and the General Assembly. The Task Force will be dissolved on January 1, 2027, ensuring a focused and time-limited examination of CTE education in Illinois. This initiative aims to ensure that all students have access to high-quality, globally competitive career and technical educational programs that align with current and future workforce needs.
