AI Summary
This bill requires most school support organizations in Tennessee to submit an annual detailed financial report to the state Department of Education by July 1st each year, with some specific exemptions for certain types of parent and booster organizations. The bill defines school support organizations as groups that collect and raise money, materials, property, or securities on behalf of schools. Specifically exempted from this reporting requirement are booster clubs, parent teacher associations (PTAs), parent teacher organizations (PTOs), and parent teacher support associations. Once submitted, the Department of Education must publish these financial reports on its website and maintain them for at least three years from the submission date. The purpose of this legislation appears to be increasing transparency and accountability for organizations that fundraise or provide financial support to schools, while recognizing that smaller, volunteer-driven parent groups may be exempt from the extensive reporting requirements. The bill will take effect immediately upon becoming law, as determined by the Tennessee General Assembly.
