This bill amends the State Parks Act to allow the Department of Natural Resources to enter into a land management agreement with the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation for managing the real property conveyed to them, but only if Senate Bill 867 of the 103rd General Assembly becomes law. The agreement must include specific provisions such as the purpose, powers, rights, objectives, and responsibilities of each party, and critically, must include restrictions on gaming operations. The bill also requires that the conveyed land remain open for public recreation during the agreement's term, and all such agreements must receive written approval from the Director of Natural Resources. Additionally, the Department may use state resources to manage, maintain, and operate the property, subject to appropriation. The bill defines a "land management agreement" as one or more agreements made for managing the conveyed real property, and it will become effective immediately or when Senate Bill 867 becomes law, whichever occurs later.
