AI Summary

This bill amends several laws related to tourism funding and grants in Illinois, primarily focusing on reducing matching fund requirements for convention and tourism bureaus. Specifically, the bill changes the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity's grant program by reducing the matching fund requirement for convention and tourism bureaus from 40% to 25% in Fiscal Year 2026 and thereafter. The bill also makes technical changes to how hotel operators' occupation tax revenue is distributed, modifying the allocation of funds to various state tourism-related funds like the Local Tourism Fund, Chicago Travel Industry Promotion Fund, and International Tourism Fund. Additionally, the bill adjusts how repayments from the Illinois Sports Facilities Authority are handled, specifying different deposit requirements for funds repaid to the state treasury in fiscal years 2024-2026. These changes aim to provide more flexibility for local tourism bureaus in meeting grant matching requirements and modify the distribution of tax revenues to support tourism promotion and related state initiatives.
