This bill amends property tax laws in Anne Arundel County to provide tax exemptions and credits for child care facilities. Specifically, the bill exempts personal property used in large family child care homes from property tax valuation when the property is owned by an individual and located at their residence. Additionally, the bill authorizes the county or municipal governments in Anne Arundel County to create property tax credits for businesses with at least 25 employees that have dedicated areas for child care centers. These child care centers must be either registered as family or large family child care homes under the Education Article or licensed as child care centers. The tax credit is limited to $10,000 annually or the actual property tax amount for the designated area, whichever is less. The bill also allows similar tax credits for day care centers, including those for children, the elderly, and adults, with the same credit limitations. The provisions will take effect on June 1, 2025, and apply to taxable years beginning after June 30, 2025, aiming to support and incentivize child care services in the county by reducing the financial burden on providers.
