AI Summary

This bill amends the Community Benefits Act to enhance transparency in hospital financial reporting by requiring hospitals to publish their annual community benefits plan report on their website. Specifically, hospitals must post detailed information including the reporting period, charity care costs (with a breakdown of emergency department services), total net patient revenue, total community benefits spending, and data on financial assistance applications. The report must include the number of applications submitted, approved, and denied, along with the top five reasons for denial. Additionally, hospitals are encouraged to provide demographic breakdowns of financial assistance applications by race, ethnicity, sex, and preferred language, though they can note if such data is not available. The Attorney General is required to create a website notice informing the public that these annual reports can be requested, including contact information for such requests. Hospitals are not obligated to post their full audited financial statements. The bill aims to increase public access to hospital financial assistance and community benefit information, with the provisions becoming effective January 1, 2026.
