This bill appropriates $3,866,000 in both fiscal years 2026 and 2027 from the general fund to the Minnesota commissioner of agriculture for nitrate private well mitigation. The funding is specifically targeted to help homeowners in eight southeastern Minnesota counties (Dodge, Fillmore, Goodhue, Houston, Mower, Olmsted, Wabasha, and Winona) whose drinking water wells have nitrate levels exceeding 10 milligrams per liter, which is the maximum contaminant level considered safe.
