This bill establishes provisions for a new "hunter nation" specialty license plate in Kansas, allowing vehicle owners and lessees to obtain a unique license plate for passenger vehicles or trucks weighing 20,000 pounds or less. Vehicle owners can apply for the plate at least 60 days before their registration renewal, and must pay a logo use royalty fee between $25 and $100 as determined by Hunter Nation, Inc. The license plate is not transferable between individuals, but can be transferred between vehicles owned by the same person. The director of vehicles will design the plate in collaboration with Hunter Nation, Inc., and applicants must consent to releasing their vehicle record information to Hunter Nation and the state treasurer. County treasurers will collect and remit the royalty payments monthly to the Hunter Nation Foundation. The license plate will be available starting January 1, 2026, and can be renewed annually upon payment of required fees and the annual royalty payment. If an applicant fails to make the royalty payment, they must return the license plate to their county treasurer.
