This bill amends the Illinois Election Code to modify voter registration requirements by expanding and clarifying the types of identification that can be used when registering to vote. The bill requires applicants to provide two forms of identification, with at least one showing a residential address, and specifies that these forms must be valid and unexpired. Acceptable forms of identification now include a driver's license, social security card, public aid identification card, utility bill, lease or contract for a residence, civic/union/professional association membership card, United States passport, or any other government-issued document with a residential address. The bill also adds new language to the voter registration affidavit, requiring applicants to affirm that they regard the registration location as their home, have no intention of returning to a former residence after the next election, and have no other home to return to in case of sickness or other affliction.
