This bill amends the Animal Welfare Act to require animal shelters and animal control facilities to provide additional information when offering a dog for adoption. Specifically, if a shelter adopts out a dog, they must now disclose the name, address, and phone number of the organization from which the dog was originally obtained. This new requirement is added as a seventh item to the existing list of mandatory disclosures, which already includes details such as the dog's breed, age, medical history, adoption fees, and return history. The information must be provided in writing and accompanied by an acknowledgement of disclosures form that is signed by both the adopter and an authorized representative of the shelter at the time of adoption. The goal of this bill appears to be increasing transparency for potential dog adopters by providing more comprehensive background information about the dog's origin and previous care.
