This bill appropriates a total of $102,900,000 from the General Revenue Fund across five different sections to support housing and reentry services for formerly incarcerated individuals. Specifically, the bill allocates $3,000,000 to the Department of Human Services to establish the Illinois Reentry Housing Institute, which will provide training and technical assistance to organizations working on reentry housing. The Illinois Housing Development Authority will receive $48,000,000 to expand the Housing for Justice-Involved Individuals Program and $28,800,000 to continue the Re-Entry Special Demonstration Program. The Department of Human Services will also receive $18,200,000 to create the Home for Good Program, which will offer case management, housing navigation, and support services for people with criminal records. An additional $5,000,000 is appropriated for interagency coordination between the Department of Human Services and the Illinois Housing Development Authority to help manage and coordinate these various programs.
