AI Summary

This bill amends the Illinois Wage Payment and Collection Act to provide additional protections for employees over the age of 65. Specifically, the bill requires employers to offer paper pay stubs to employees over 65 who request them, even if pay stubs are typically provided electronically. Additionally, if an employer requires employees over 65 to record their work hours using an electronic device, they must provide an alternative non-electronic method for tracking hours at the employee's request. The bill mandates that employers provide clear notice to employees about these options. If an employer fails to comply with these provisions, employees can file a civil action to recover $500 per violation, plus reasonable costs and attorney's fees. The bill defines key terms like "electronic device" and clarifies that these requirements apply whether pay stubs are generated by the employer or a payroll service provider. This legislation aims to accommodate potential technological challenges that older workers might face and ensure they have accessible methods for tracking their work and compensation.
