For those without such identification, applicants must attest to their information's accuracy and then print, physically sign, and mail a registration application to the local registrar. The bill requires the secretary of state to implement security measures to ensure application accuracy and integrity, including using the state electronic internet portal to authenticate applicant identities. The website must also prominently display information about the legal consequences of providing false voter registration information. The Department of Public Safety and secretary of state websites will provide links to the electronic voter registration application, and the new system will legally be treated the same as a mail-in voter registration application. The electronic voter registration program is set to take effect on September 1, 2025.
