This bill amends Idaho Code Section 59-502 to increase the salaries of Supreme Court justices over several years. Starting July 1, 2024, the annual salary for Supreme Court justices will increase from $169,508 to $181,374. The bill further stipulates subsequent salary increases to $194,070 on July 1, 2026, $207,655 on July 1, 2027, and $222,190 on July 1, 2028. The salary adjustments for other judicial positions are calculated relative to the Supreme Court justices' salaries, with Court of Appeals judges receiving $8,000 less, district judges receiving $6,000 less than Court of Appeals judges, and magistrate judges receiving $8,000 less than district judges. The bill maintains the existing requirement that judges must take an oath confirming they have no unresolved cases older than 30 days before receiving their salary. The act is set to go into full effect on July 1, 2025, with an emergency clause declaring its immediate necessity.
