This bill requires the New York State Department of Transportation to develop a program for installing official directional signs on state highways that indicate the location of publicly accessible zero-emission vehicle charging and refueling stations within three miles of an interstate or primary highway exit or off-ramp. Signs will only be installed during regular maintenance of existing signage, and the bill provides a specific definition of "zero-emission vehicle" as a motor vehicle propelled by an electric motor that draws electricity from a hydrogen fuel cell, a rechargeable battery, or operates without direct atmospheric pollutant emissions.
