This bill establishes a Career and Technical Education (CTE) Reporting Grant Program through the Texas Education Agency, designed to help school districts and charter schools collect, analyze, and report CTE-related data more effectively. The program will provide grants to eligible schools to enhance their ability to track student outcomes and workforce readiness, with specific focus on collecting detailed information about student participation in CTE programs. Grant recipients can use funds to implement data collection strategies, including tracking student involvement in technical student organizations, work-based learning experiences, industry certifications, and college/career/military readiness metrics. The grants will also allow schools to purchase data analytics software, train employees in its use, and work towards integrating CTE data more comprehensively into the Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS). The Texas Education Agency will develop rules for grant applications, establish eligibility criteria, and prioritize applications that show potential for significant positive impacts on CTE program outcomes and student workforce preparedness. The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a two-thirds vote in the Texas legislature, or on September 1, 2025, if it does not receive the immediate voting threshold.
