AI Summary

This bill modifies South Carolina's continuing education requirements for real estate brokers and associates, primarily focusing on nonresident licensees and experienced professionals. The bill allows nonresident brokers and associates who have successfully completed continuing education requirements in their home state to be exempt from South Carolina's continuing education requirements, subject to approval by the Real Estate Commission. Additionally, the bill provides continued exemptions for existing categories of licensees, such as those who have completed post-licensing courses, those on inactive status, and brokers or associates who are 65 years old with 25 or more years of licensure in South Carolina. A new provision is also added that enables individuals with an expired license who meet specific age and experience criteria (25 years of licensure and 65 years old) to renew their license by paying the required fee and receiving an exemption from continuing education requirements. The bill will take effect upon approval by the Governor, offering more flexibility for nonresident and long-serving real estate professionals in maintaining their licenses.
