This resolution recognizes Dr. Nakeisha Owens-Griffin for her significant contributions to education and public service in Tennessee. Dr. Owens-Griffin is an education consultant with over 27 years of experience, having worked as a middle school teacher, adjunct professor at multiple universities, and a special education supervisor and compliance monitor. She has trained school districts and community agencies across more than 212 schools and is particularly noted for her work with youth in the Department of Children's Services custody in Shelby County. Through her involvement with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, she led a service project called Operation Sleep and Snacks, which raised over $10,000 worth of sleep items and snacks for foster youth in 2023. As the president of her sorority chapter, she embodies the spirit of the Volunteer State by demonstrating a strong commitment to public service and advocating for children's resources and equity. The resolution formally commends Dr. Owens-Griffin for her honorable and astute service to the people of Tennessee and wishes her well in her future endeavors.
