Additionally, when the town manager settles a claim, it provides a complete legal release for the town from further damages related to that specific incident. The bill replaces outdated terminology like "board of aldermen" with "town council" and increases the settlement threshold from the original $100 to $10,000. The legislation becomes effective immediately upon becoming law.
