This bill requires that any nonemergency school construction project receiving State aid in Vermont must include the creation of a high-capacity, gender-neutral restroom as a condition of project approval. Under the new provision, for a school construction project to be approved for state funding, it must include a high-capacity, all-gender restroom featuring fully enclosed stalls. This means that when schools are planning new construction or significant renovations and seeking state financial assistance, they will need to design and implement a restroom that accommodates all genders and provides privacy through complete stall enclosures. The bill is set to take effect on July 1, 2025, giving schools ample time to prepare for and incorporate these new restroom requirements into their construction planning.
