This bill modifies the Georgia Judicial Retirement System by changing retirement provisions for superior court judges who first take office on or after July 1, 2026. Specifically, the bill introduces a new retirement structure where judges can only receive full retirement benefits upon reaching age 65, instead of the previous standard of age 60. For judges who first become members on or after the effective date of the Act, their retirement benefits will be calculated differently: if they retire before age 65, their monthly retirement benefit will only include creditable service from positions other than superior court judge.
