This bill amends the California Business and Professions Code to expand the California State Board of Pharmacy's authority during and after a declared emergency. Currently, the board can waive certain pharmacy regulations during an emergency to protect public health, and can continue those waivers for up to 90 days after the emergency ends. The bill increases this post-emergency waiver period from 90 to 120 days, giving pharmacies and clinics more flexibility in continuing emergency-related practices. The bill also maintains existing provisions that allow pharmacists to furnish dangerous drugs without a prescription during emergencies, permit mobile pharmacies to operate in impacted areas under specific conditions, and enable pharmacies destroyed or severely damaged by natural disasters to relocate without being considered a change in ownership. These provisions are designed to ensure continuity of patient care and access to medication during and immediately after emergencies, while maintaining appropriate safety and record-keeping standards.
