This resolution celebrates the life of Robert Evans Talbott, a dedicated firefighter who served with Chesterfield Fire and EMS for 20 years, highlighting his distinguished career in public safety. Born and raised in Southside Virginia, Talbott graduated from Blue Stone High School, earned the rank of Eagle Scout, and obtained a degree in fire science from Danville Community College. During his career, he worked in multiple communities, achieved the rank of lieutenant in 2017, and was known for his calm demeanor and mentorship of younger firefighters. The resolution recognizes his professional achievements, including being named Firefighter of the Year in 2002 and receiving a Unit Life Save Award in 2023 for rescuing five people from a burning apartment. The General Assembly formally notes with sadness his passing on December 20, 2024, and resolves to prepare a copy of the resolution to be presented to his family, including his wife Carol and children Austin, Evan, and Amanda, as an expression of respect for his memory and service to the community.
