This resolution recognizes and celebrates three Mississippi Delta youths—Jeremy Jordan, Megan Goss, and LeDereck Norals—who earned an Official 2024 Olympic Torch through a global Coca-Cola contest involving a 12,000-mile journey across 206 nations and 10,000 retail grocers. The torch recipients, along with their Team Captains Charles E. McCoy, Sr., and Roger "Derrick" Simpson, Sr., will present the Olympic Torch to Senator David Jordan on the Senate floor on February 26, 2025, honoring his years of service to Mississippi. The resolution highlights that the torch recipients will embark on a statewide tour to share the Olympic Torch's symbolism of unity and peace, and notes that proceeds from their achievement will be donated to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Mississippi. The Mississippi Senate extends its recognition to these young citizens, commending them for bringing honor to their families, community, and state, and wishes them well on their Olympic Torch Tour, which aims to inspire and unite Mississippians through the spirit of the Olympic Games.
