This resolution recognizes and honors Dung Tran, the owner of StrEatery food hall in Louisville's Beechmont neighborhood, for his exceptional community service during the severe winter storms in January. During the brutal cold, Tran transformed his business into a pop-up shelter, actively searching the south side of Louisville to find and help people without shelter. He went above and beyond by driving around to collect gloves and warm clothing for those staying at his shelter, and he committed to keeping the shelter open longer than initially planned to ensure vulnerable individuals were not forced back onto the streets. The resolution highlights Tran's selflessness and empathy, describing him as an exemplary citizen who potentially saved lives during the challenging winter conditions. The Kentucky Senate formally acknowledges Tran's extraordinary efforts and directs its Clerk to transmit a copy of the resolution to Senator David Yates for delivery, thereby officially recognizing and honoring his humanitarian actions.
