This resolution celebrates Patrice Wood, a distinguished journalist who has worked at WJAR NBC 10 in Rhode Island for 45 years, recognizing her remarkable career and significant contributions to journalism and community advocacy. Originally from Ohio and a graduate of Bowling Green State University, Wood began her career in television news in 1980, quickly rising through the ranks to become a prominent news anchor, covering the 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 11 p.m. newscasts, and serving as an education reporter. She is particularly noted for her Tuesday's Child special reports, which have helped 60 percent of featured children find adoptive families, and has received numerous honors including induction into the Rhode Island Heritage Hall of Fame and the Rhode Island Radio and Television Hall of Fame. The resolution commends her professional skills, commitment to balanced reporting, and tireless advocacy for children in foster care, and officially directs the Secretary of State to transmit a certified copy of the resolution to Wood in recognition of her outstanding journalistic career and community service.
