This resolution commends Judge L.A. Harris, Jr. for his distinguished 35-year judicial career in Henrico County, Virginia. A lifelong Henrico County resident, Harris graduated from the University of Richmond School of Law and worked as a prosecutor before becoming a special justice and later a judge in the Henrico County General District Court in 1988. He was subsequently appointed to the Henrico County Circuit Court, where he served for 35 years, becoming the longest-serving judge and circuit court judge in Virginia. Throughout his career, Harris was recognized for his integrity, fairness, wisdom, and dedication to mentoring younger attorneys and judges. At the time of his retirement on February 1, 2025, the Henrico County Courts Building was renamed in his honor, reflecting his significant contributions to the legal profession and service to the community. The resolution, passed by both the Senate and House of Delegates, formally recognizes Harris's exemplary career and directs the Senate Clerk to prepare a copy of the resolution to be presented to him as a gesture of admiration and respect.
