This bill establishes an advisory committee to address property crime targeting electric vehicle (EV) charger infrastructure. The committee will be formed under the existing Interagency Electric Vehicle Coordinating Council and will include representatives from various sectors, such as the Attorney General's office, law enforcement, recycling associations, EV service providers, local government, power utilities, community advocacy groups, and individuals with expertise in the EV industry, installation, site hosting, and driving. This committee will provide guidance and recommendations to reduce EV charger property crime, assist legislators with related questions, and report its findings annually. The bill also amends RCW 42.56.270, which deals with exemptions from public disclosure, by adding proprietary information provided by private sector entities to the Department of Commerce under this new act to the list of non-disclosable information. This advisory committee is set to expire on July 1, 2028.
