This resolution honors the members of the 134th Air Refueling Wing of the Tennessee Air National Guard who were awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for their extraordinary actions during a military operation on April 13-14, 2024. The resolution recognizes eleven specific airmen who were involved in a critical combat air refueling mission during Operation INHERENT RESOLVE, where they found themselves in a high-stakes situation during a coordinated attack on Israel. Despite lacking advanced defensive systems and facing significant airborne threats, the aircrew maintained composure, relayed vital real-time information, and successfully offloaded tens of thousands of pounds of fuel, which directly contributed to the defense of allied personnel and assets. The Distinguished Flying Cross, which is the highest award for extraordinary aerial achievement and has only been awarded to KC-135 crew members twenty-five times in the nation's history, was bestowed upon these airmen in recognition of their heroism, professional competence, and exceptional aviation skills. The resolution formally commends these service members for their outstanding performance, which helped de-escalate regional tensions and potentially saved numerous lives, bringing great credit to the Tennessee Air National Guard and the United States Air Force.
