This resolution commends The Ayers Foundation on its 25th anniversary, recognizing its significant contributions to education and community development in Tennessee. Founded in 1999 by Jim Ayers, a successful healthcare and banking professional, the foundation was established to address educational disparities by helping students from families that cannot afford college tuition. Over its first decade, the foundation awarded over 3,000 scholarships, primarily focusing on education in Henderson, Perry, and Decatur counties. With support from Governor Bill Lee and the Tennessee General Assembly, the Ayers Scholars Program has expanded to serve students in 21 counties across all three Grand Divisions of Tennessee. Beyond scholarships, the foundation supports various initiatives including Come Home Tennessee, the Ayers Entrepreneur Center, Ayers Children's Medical Center, and several educational institutes. The resolution honors the foundation's ongoing efforts to improve the quality of life for Tennesseans and recognizes its commitment to supporting education and community development over the past 25 years.
