This resolution honors Andre Jones, who received the 2024 Charter Champion Award for Advocate of the Year from the Tennessee Charter School Center, in recognition of his outstanding efforts to support financial literacy among students. As a Crosstown High School alumni parent and board member, Jones created a $6,000 "Financial Freedom" scholarship challenge to help students learn about financial independence, personally financing part of the scholarship and fundraising the remainder. The resolution highlights Jones' commitment to supporting students by not only providing the initial scholarship but also continuing to mentor the three winning students as they invest their scholarship money in a Roth IRA, and working to establish an ongoing funding mechanism to support this scholarship for future generations. The Tennessee General Assembly acknowledges Jones as an exemplary Tennessean who demonstrates exceptional dedication to supporting young people's financial education and future success, and they formally commend him for his significant contributions to the community.
