This bill provides a $3,000,000 one-time appropriation from the state's general fund in fiscal year 2026 to support the redevelopment of vacant school properties previously owned by Independent School District No. 2365, which served the cities of Gibbon, Fairfax, and Winthrop (collectively known as GFW). The funding will be administered by the commissioner of employment and economic development and can be granted to one or more of these cities to help them predesign and design ways to repurpose the unused school properties to meet local community needs.
