This bill provides $15,000,000 in state bond funding to the city of Minnetonka for the Opus Public Space project, which will be located near the Southwest Light Rail Transit Opus station. The funding will be used to acquire property and develop a public gathering space that includes a plaza, parking, trails, and other visitor amenities and infrastructure. This appropriation is in addition to a previous allocation for the same project from the 2023 legislative session. The commissioner of management and budget is authorized to sell and issue state bonds up to $15,000,000 to finance the project, following standard state bonding procedures outlined in Minnesota Statutes and the state constitution. The bill will take effect immediately after its final enactment, enabling the city to proceed with the public space development project near the light rail station.
